Trips

Exceptional Adventures provides vacation planning for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are 18 years of age and older and have good self-care skills. Exceptional Adventures can accommodate persons with special needs such as sign language, special dietary restrictions, or visually impaired. Most tours can accommodate persons in wheelchairs.

Exceptional Adventures offers 24-hour supervision with staff in guest’s rooms, or in the immediate area. Highly trained, caring volunteers are assigned to the same guests for the duration of each tour. Exceptional Adventures normally uses a one-to-four (1:4) staff-to-guest ratio.

    We will head to the state of Delaware today and home of the lovely Rehoboth Beach. You will enjoy three nights at a luxury hotel, located in a perfect location right on the boardwalk and beach with perfect access to everything this area has to offer. Rehoboth Beach is a perfect mid-Atlantic coastal town.

    We will spend the day at the Cleveland Zoo and Rain Forest. During our visit to the zoo, we will see the zoo’s newest resident – a male Steller's sea eagle. Steller's sea eagles are extremely rare in captivity - less than 20 live in U.

    Today we will travel to Erie, PA to visit Presque Isle Downs & Casino where you’ll find over 2,000 of your favorite slots and 48 table games. You will enjoy lunch at the Backstretch Buffet, a full afternoon of slot machines and gaming excitement and a casino bonus at Presque Isle Downs & Casino!     “Oh, Lucy. I'm home!” We’re off to Jamestown NY for this back-by-popular-demand tour with a NEW hilarious show! We will explore the famous Lucy-Desi Museum.  Here you'll see priceless costumes, awards, photographs and other vintage memorabilia on display from the estates of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. Enjoy a delicious luncheon as we laugh along side Lucy while watching the hilarious "Grape Stomping" episode! Also, take a ride back in time as we tour Lucille Ball's childhood home on the LucyTown Tour!

    The Tall Ships are here! We are off to Cleveland, OH to see the Tall Ships from the deck of the Goodtime III, Cleveland’s largest excursion ship. We will enjoy a grand lunch buffet, a scenic cruise and the best views to see  the Tall Ships. After the cruise, we are off to Malley’s Chocolate Factory. Malley's is known for fine chocolates and has a huge selection of regular and sugar-free candy. Don’t miss out on this exciting event and your chance to experience The Tall Ships.

    Today we will travel to Beautiful Columbiana County, OH for a Fruitful Brown Bag Tour! A treat at every stop!  We will stop at the Das Dutch Cupboard Shop – a bulk store offering a wide variety of old-fashioned & hard-to-find favorites and receive a bag of sweet temptations! Then we’re off to Van Pelts Farm Market  – Lots more goodies here - a mixture of apples and other seasonal fruits, as well as good old-fashioned baked goods! Here we will receive a fruit bar & slice of fruited angel food cake, too.

    We are very excited to be traveling to beautiful Lake Chautauqua, New York! We have front row seats to see American country music singer, songwriter and actor Travis Tritt ! You will hear many of your favorite songs like “T-R-O-U-B-L-E”/ "It's A Great Day To Be Alive" / "Where Corn Don't Grow" and many more. The next day, we will visit Webb’s Chocolate Factory for a tour and shopping. All of Webb’s’ chocolates are made using copper kettles, wooden paddles and are hand-dipped and packed by hand. Webb’s has a huge selection of regular and sugar-free candy!

    We’re traveling to Columbus, OH to the Columbus Motor Speedway to experience a 75 Lap  NASCAR Race! This premier division features NASCAR cars that are fabricated from the ground up with tubular frames and high tech suspensions. Their engines are predominantly 358 cubic inches with few limitations. We have great seats for the race! The next day we will visit the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. You will have  the opportunity to see fish, reptiles, birds and other animals today. New to the zoo are their stingrays.

  • Happy Days A New Musical

    We’re traveling to Morgantown WV to see Broadway’s new Happy Days, a new Musical with music by Oscar-winning composer, Paul Williams and book by the TV series creator Garry Marshall. Happy Days reintroduces one of America's best loved families, The Cunningham's, to a whole new generation of kids and parents. The famed drive-in malt shop and number one hangout, Arnold's, is in danger of demolition,; so, the gang teams up to save it with a dance contest and a TV-worthy wrestling match. You won't want to miss this power house trip down memory lane. Reserved theater seating awaits you!

    Forget about what you learned in history class as you witness first-hand how justice was served Western style with an old-fashioned train robbery and street gunfights right here in Ashtabula OH. We will board the AC & J Scenic Line for a train ride filled with outlaws and cowboys of the Old Wild West. A stroll down Main Street of this Western town to visit period merchants makes this tour a true Wild West experience.

    Exceptional Adventures is off to the scenic mountains of Mt. Union PA! We will be staying at the Beacon Lodge, where we will have spacious climate-controlled cabins. Our summer camp is filled with many activities, such as swimming, wagon rides, outside bowling, bingo, fishing, crafts, karaoke, campfires, tie dye crafts, theme nights, movie nights, nature walks and much more! You will also have the chance to try the NEW Zip-line! Don’t miss out on this summer camp adventure! This camp is wheel chair accessible!

Once there, we will enjoy a four-course meal that is fit for a king.  Then the production begins! We will be whisked away to a far-off land to hear tale of this enchanting story, which concludes with an authentic medieval tournament for the battle of champions. The next day, we’re off to Washington DC! We will board the Dandy Of Washington for a lunch cruise, music excitement & tour of  our Nation’s capital in the Summertime!

    We are headed to Canal Fulton, OH for a boat ride and unique tour! There are only four (4) canal boats left in Ohio, and today we are on one of them ! We will enjoy a cruise on the St. Helena III and ravel along an original section of the Ohio & Erie Canal. The boat glides along as it is pulled by a team of horses! Next, we will enjoy a wonderful lunch in a rustic setting at the Century House restaurant which overlooks the beautiful canal.

  • Safari Adventure

    Lion, Tigers & Zebras Oh My! We are off to Wagon Trails Safari Park in Vienna, OH. This park features more than 300 animals from around the world.  A Safari truck takes you for a ride through 62 acres, providing you with an up-close glimpse of the animals. A visit to the petting barn, bird aviary and gift shop will round out your morning.  Then, we’re off to Noah’s Last Ark . This unique facility is dedicated to providing a permanent, safe environment for abused and unwanted exotic animals.

  • Cedar Point

    We’re off to Sandusky OH to visit Cedar Point Amusement Park for the day! Cedar Point was voted best amusement park in the world by Coaster magazine. Ride the newest roller coaster, GateKeeper that will take you on a winged ride unlike anything else at the famed park! Take a thrill ride on the Blue Streak rollercoaster, Wild Cat , Wicked Twister, Iron Dragon or Corkscrew. Enjoy slower rides on the antique cars, giant Ferris wheel, sky ride and Cedar Point Railroad. Relax at one of the live entertainment shows. There’s something for everyone at Cedar Point!

    We will be staying at our first visit ever to Bally’s Casino in Atlantic City, NJ.  Its Wild Wild West themed casino will have you stepping back in time to a Western mining town, complete with a prairie sky! Once there, we will enjoy luxurious and spacious guestrooms, try our luck at their spectacular casinos: Bally's, Wild Wild West Casino, Claridge Casino and Coyote Kate's Slot Parlor. With so much to choose from, Bally's on the Boardwalk is the ultimate place to stay and play.
